Design Storms for Post 50's Homes

Rethinking Modern Homes

Balancing today's priorities with the legacy of post-war domestic architecture

Description:

Design Storm is a service that helps home owners contemplate the possibilities and make informed decisions regarding the future of their homes. Through detailed investigation and client collaboration, John MacDonald Architect helps bring our clients' dreams for their homes to reality. JMA has created unique additions and renovations to meet the needs of our clients, from downsizing, to a more functional home, to expanding and reorienting for more space. Considering changes to post-war  homes has its own challenges and possibilities. At JMA, every home is special, and every design endeavours to make it as great as it can possibly be.

Our Role:

Design Storm sessions present several preliminary design options that respond to our client's needs. We  are carefull to balance issues that are important to our clients, such as functionality, cost & value, aesthetics, sustainability, maintenance and longevity.

Achievements:

Demonstrated that targeted renovations can significantly enhance a home. The designs demonstrated how the Client’s competing priorities could be balanced, while also addressing existing issues of circulation and flow.

“Thank you so much for your fast response to our request for assistance in thinking through design issues related to our contemplated deck construction. We're now in the process of dealing with a contractor regarding the issues and possibilities for the deck. Your input was great, and we appreciate it.”
