Lyle Hallman Accessibility Renovations

Interventions for Pool Accessibility

Small changes for a more inclusive public swimming pool facility

Description:

As part of the long term accessibility goals for the Province of Ontario, The City of Kitchener sought to address the accessibility deficiencies of several of its public recreational facilities.

JMA was commissioned by the City to complete accessibility renovations for two of these facilities: the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex and Lyle Hallman Pool.

Renovations to the pool facilities concentrated on improving the change rooms and showers, as they were previously too narrow for accessible use. The servery and community room were also renovated with a new servery space that is accessible to all.

These modifications addressed several different building systems:

- Barrier-Free Path of Travel System

- Emergency Egress System

- Fire Separation System
