Our staff are looking forward to once again participating in Jane's Walk, the annual community-based approach to city building that uses volunteer-led walking tours to encourage people to rediscover the value of walking, and to observe, reflect, share, question and re-imagine the places in which they live, work and play. This year, both John and Scott have Jane's Walks planned for the first full weekend of May (2-4).
Sharing Kingsdale Stories, with John
Neighbourhood and community are built from our individual stories. We live and grow by creating memories and patterns that turn streets, buildings, and parks into places of belonging. By sharing our everyday experiences, hopes and dreams for the spaces in which we live, we enrich one another and create common understanding.
Will you walk with us and share your memories of Kingsdale’s grid of streets, Wilson Park, Montgomery Creek, and other spaces nearby? If you are a longtime resident, or grew up in the neighbourhood and moved away, or currently living and laughing in the neighbourhood, we’d like to hear from you. What are the streets and spaces that make/made the neighbourhood a home for you?
We hope that people of all ages and abilities will lend their voices to this accessible walk, following where those stories lead. Rain or shine. Feel free to email [email protected] with your questions or stories.
Walk Meeting Location: Kingsdale Community Centre, 72 Wilson Avenue

Lakeside / Southdale: Visions of a Connected Urban Park For All, with Scott
Take a stroll with Scott Clark of John MacDonald Architect on an approximately 4 km loop starting and finishing at Lakeside Park’s south lookout. Along the way, we’ll look at how improved connections and amenities could be implemented at Lakeside, Mausser, Meinzinger and Concordia Parks to form an expansive urban park for all. Hiking shoes or boots are recommended, as the route will include a meander through the woods. Unfortunately, the route is not accessible.
Walk Meeting Location: Lakeside Park (south lookout / parking lot)
Date and Time: Saturday May 3rd, 2025, 2:00pm
